Frequently Asked Questions
Do I really get your cell phone number?
Yep! And when you need me, you can call or text. I answer as soon as I can between the hours of 8 am and 8 pm daily (even weekends!) If I’m ever out for an extended vacation, I’ll have a colleague covering my calls.
What does the subscription fee include?
Unlimited visits, up to an hour each. There’s never a fee or co-pay for seeing me. And the ability to call or text me when you need me.
We do a few in-office procedures at no charge as well, like EKGs, earwax removal, steroid injections of knees and other painful spots, abscess drainage, and stitches for minor cuts (but urgent care might be a little better for that if you’re bleeding like RIGHT NOW.) We do point-of-care testing (like flu tests) and there may be a small charge for that if the supplies are costly, but we’ll let you know before we actually do it what it will cost.
Do you take my insurance?
Our practice does not take traditional insurance, and there is never a co-pay. Instead, you pay us a monthly subscription fee, and you become a patient in our practice. This fee pays our team and makes sure that we can keep our practice small and personalized. It’s a primary care relationship between the doctor and the patient without anyone in the middle to affect care — we work for you, not insurance companies.
Your health insurance plan still covers everything else it normally does, like prescriptions and lab tests, specialists, hospitalizations, etc.
Can you prescribe my ADHD meds, pain meds, hormones, antipsychotics, etc.?
Almost definitely yes. If in doubt, call and ask.
Do you have a patient portal where I can get my labwork and medical info?
Yep! Just like the big hospitals, we have a patient portal that’s available 24/7, and you get access to it when you sign up.
Can I bring my kids to you?
If they’re 13 and up, absolutely! I don’t see kids younger than that even though I trained as a pediatrician, too. The reason is mostly because of vaccines. They are hard for a small practice to get and keep. If we solve that problem in the future, we might revisit this rule!
Can you do virtual visits?
Sure can! Virtual, in-person, even text message visits are all fair game! Since we don’t take insurance, we can see you in whatever way is best for YOU and not in whatever way the insurance company makes us see you.
Do you practice gender-affirming care?
Absolutely. I believe in the rights of trans people to live their lives, and I’ll support and affirm you no matter where you are in your journey. I’m happy to write letters, coordinate referrals, prescribe medications, and do whatever you need so you can live your best and most authentic life.
How much does it cost?
$150/month per adult.
10% discount if you pay six months up front.
10% discount if there is more than one adult in your household signing up (applies to each person signing up.)
The above discounts can be combined to give you 20% off the base rate
$25/month add-on per child aged 13-25, if they are a dependent of an adult member (or if you’re responsible for their healthcare. We aren’t nitpicky about this.)
